Watch: Unstoppable Arjun Maini set to conquer new heights after Le Mans experience
The Indian sensation spoke to Asiaville about his 24 hour Le Mans experience, a challenging childhood, future goals and his Formula 1 dream.
If you've seen the Oscar nominated Ford v Ferrari, you've probably heard of the prestigious Le Mans race and how much it means to racers across the planet. Ken Miles, the character played by Christian Bale in the film (based on a true story), dedicated his life to race in the 24-hour endurance race while Henry Ford II invested a large chunk of his company's wealth in winning the title in the 1960s. In short, Le Mans is considered the pinnacle of motorsport -- the race everyone wants to win.
Young Indian sensation Arjun Maini, touted by many as a potential Formula 1 racer in the future, took part in his first Le Mans race in 2019, after taking a break from the traditional circuit racing. The racer, who has been a popular name for so long that people often forget that he is just 22 years old, chose to halt his Formula 2 career for a while to rekindle his raw love for racing.
It is understandable why Maini took a break from formula racing. Arjun started racing when he was five years old and had already won two championships when he was eight. By 2018 has was Haas' development driver and taking part in the FIA Formula 2 championships, often considered to be the stepping stone into Formula 1. But he struggled to match his early-career and was left without a team in Formula 2 which made him travel to Le Mans.
The young driver was recently in Chennai as a part of the X1 racing league. He spoke to Asiaville about his 24 hour Le Mans experience, a different childhood, future goals and the Formula 1 dream.
