Watch: Chelsea manager Frank Lampard gets slide tackled by Azpilicueta
Chelsea face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night (early morning in India), a fixture which immediately recalls this classic final in 2012 which the Blues won.
Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta is known for his commitment and die-hard attitude during matches. But a video of a practice session prior to the Blues' all-important Champions League match against Bayern Munich have revealed that his commitment is not just limited to matchdays.
The defender was seen jumping into a tackle on his coach Frank Lampard much to the surprise of his teammates. Lampard was visibly shaken by the commitment while Ruben Loftus-Cheek can also be seen making a surprised face.
Chelsea face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night (early morning in India), a fixture which immediately recalls this classic final in 2012 which the Blues won. Bayern got lukewarm revenge in the 2013 Super Cup, as Pep’s Bayern beat José’s Chelsea on penalties but the rivalry has since only grown. The brilliant quarter-final first leg in 2004-05, which ended up 4-2 to the Blues, was another thriller, with the London club winning the tie 6-5 on aggregate.
A lot has changed for Chelsea since their Champions League title-winning campaign though with the team no longer the pace-setters in the Premier League. Manchester City and Liverpool have consistently outperformed the Blues in the past few seasons as Chelsea go through a period of transition. But on their day the London side can be lethal -- as shown in the group stage outing against Ajax -- and Lampard will be hoping to inspire his men to produce a similar performance against the Bundesliga giants on Tuesday.
