Amitabh Bachchan shares unseen pics of Diwali puja at home. See them here
The Bachchan family celebrated Diwali by performing an intimate Diwali puja at their Mumbai home, Jalsa, which was followed by a grand party attended by leading Bollywood celebrities. Scroll to see all the sweetest Bachchan family pictures from Diwali 2019.
Grand Diwali parties dominated most A-lister calendars last weekend, from Anil and Sonam Kapoor's house party to Karan Johar’s annual Diwali puja. But Diwali isn't Diwali without a decadent Bachchan party. The Bachchan family's Diwali celebration never disappoints, and this year was no different. The family celebrated the Festival of Lights with a seriously sparkly party at Amitabh Bachchan's Mumbai home, Jalsa, on October 27.
For starters, the venue for the gathering looked like something out of a fairytale. It was perfect for all of those epic Instagram shots shared by celebrities dressed in their sartorial best, celebrating the night away. In attendance were Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Janhvi Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Bhumi Pednekar, Sara Ali Khan, Sidharth Malhotra, Taapsee Pannu and Varun Dhawan with rumoured girlfriend Natasha Dalal.
But before opening the doors of their beautiful Mumbai residence to their Bollywood colleagues and friends, the Bachchan family came together during the evening for a private puja. Like in previous years, veteran Bollywood couple Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan celebrated the annual festival with an intimate puja with son Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and granddaughter Aaradhya Bachchan.
Days after Diwali, senior Bachchan took to his official Twitter page to share some of his favourite moments from the special evening with his social media followers, along with his Diwali wishes. He wrote, "On this auspicious day and week of Deepawali .. love and affection from our abode JALSA .. and prayers for fulfilment , peace and prosperity ..????????सुखशांतिसमृद्धि, सदा ????." The Bollywood icon's collection of pictures show him performing an aarti, along with snapshots of the rest of the family following suit. While Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan chose ivory, gold and silver kurtas by designer label Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla for the occasion, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aaradhya Bachchan chose to coordinate their ensembles, picking bold red Indian ethnic outfits.
And that's not where the festive updates ended. Along with these never-seen-before family pictures, Bachchan also treated his fans to a special peek into his home. A second post shared on his timeline showed the Diwali decorations at Jalsa, the Bachchan family's iconic residence in Mumbai, along with a photograph of the wall full of Warli art that welcomes guests when they first see Jalsa's gates. "On this auspicious day and week of Deepawali .. love and affection from our abode JALSA .. and prayers for fulfilment , peace and prosperity .. सुखशांतिसमृद्धि, सदा" was the message that the star shared with the pictures.

The saree and lehenga are both fail-safe picks for almost any festive Indian occasion, and the Bachchan family's Diwali 2019 celebrations were no different. Anushka Sharma turned heads in a colourful lehenga from Sabyasachi’s latest collection, and Ananya Panday went all out with a neon lehenga set by Amit Aggarwal. Both Jacqueline Fernandez and Janhvi Kapoor opted for lehengas in jewel tones — the former wore a heavily-embellished number by Falguni Shane Peacock, while the latter picked an embroidered lehenga set by Manish Malhotra. Katrina Kaif and Kiara Advani were seen stepping out in the ethnic staple too. Meanwhile, actor Shahid Kapoor's wife Mira Rajput Kapoor upped the ante in a periwinkle blue ruffled sari by designer label, JADE by Monica and Karishma, Tara Sutaria dazzled in a sequin saree by designer Manish Malhotra and Bipasha Basu picked a classic silk saree by Raw Mango.
