He’s the host of the Daily Show, and hands down, the funniest talk show host ever.
And last night, the sassy South African comedian described TikTok in the funniest way possible. Making a joke on our diminishing attention spans, he said it was a “short video app for people who were bored before the end of this sentence”.
This was placed within a segment discussing the situation in the US, where senators have called for a security probe into TikTok, which is owned by Chinese tech giant, ByteDance. The call for a probe is led by U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Tom Cotton.
“With over 110 million downloads in the U.S. alone, TikTok is a potential counterintelligence threat we cannot ignore,” wrote Schumer, the Senate’s senior Democrat, and Cotton, a Republican senator from Arkansas.
TikTok has said U.S. user data is stored in the United States, but the senators noted that ByteDance is governed by Chinese laws.
