Delhi witnessed two low intensity earthquakes in April. While the global coronavirus pandemic has left everyone locked down at home, Delhi is going through a unique predicament. Today marked the third incident of low intensity earthquake experienced by the country's capital.
Mild tremors were felt in parts of NCR on Sunday, measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, according to the the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
"The earthquake was reported at 1.45 p.m. having its epicenter at 20 km north of New Delhi at 5 km depth," the NCS said. There have been no reports of causality or loss of property.
Delhi is known to witness earthquakes in the past as well, however, it is rare for the epicentre to be in the capital region. On April 12 and 13, mild intensity earthquakes were felt in the region. In the two earlier inicdents also, there were no reports of any damage.
Delhi, along with the rest of the country, has been under a lockdown since March 25 due to the coronavirus outbreak. Twitter was afire today with hilarious reactions, memes and tweets about the lack of choice for the capital city occupants between corona/earthquake.
To top it all, the earthquake was preceded by a dust storm, seems like Delhi peeps are cursed with an eventful 2020.
