Who is Dr Raisa Ansari?
Raisa Ansari's video of protesting against the Indore Municipal Corporation went viral where she could be heard speaking fluent English and claimed that she holds a PhD in material sciences.
Ansari alleged that municipal officers in the area were harassing the vegetable and fruit sellers and not letting them conduct business smoothly. When asked about considering better job prospects given her academic qualification, she said, “No institutions, no colleges are ready to give jobs to Muslims or members of other communities.”
The reaction to her video was multilayered and complex - one part of the netizens wondered how a fruit vendor can protest in English, where the other was shocked to find out how even a highly educated person doesn't find "better" jobs in this country.
