TechMahindra introduces AI-based Humanoid HR
The humanoid will help employees by responding to their HR-related queries as well as handle personal requests like providing payslip, tax forms etc
What if your HR is replaced by a robot? Will you feel comfortable enough to interact with it? Even if you do, the robot won’t be feeling anything for you. This is reality for some of the employees of Tech Mahindra, based in Noida. The company has launched a humanoid called K2 that will handle the basic work of human resource. It will be providing help by responding to HR-related employee queries as well as handle personal requests like providing payslip, tax forms etc. The humanoid was first installed in the Hyderabad campus of the company.
Let’s talk about the features of the HR humanoid, apart from being based on AI, that means it’s going to get better with time, the humanoid K2 can initiate conversation without any need for any wake up command.
The makers of the K2 have kept in mind the needs of specially abled people and provided the feature to interact using text display and speech.
The company is now planning to install the next humanoid in its Pune campus. It also plans to provide enable it with mobility and spatial awareness to make it multidirectional.
Harshvendra Soin, the Chief People Officer of Tech Mahindra said, “In today’s digital era, the changing talent landscape is making it imperative for organisations to not just be customer focused, but more ‘human experience’ centric. At Tech Mahindra, we are focused on leveraging technology to further enhance human experiences by making them more personalised and meaningful. K2 has been designed to add value to the employee lifecycle across various touchpoints and ready ourselves to be a workplace of the future. We believe the future will be more human than we think.”
But, isn’t it scary, now that some of the tasks that were the exclusive purview of human beings is being replaced by a robot? Also, it’s not clear that how are we going to deal with privacy and security concerns related to a humanoid. What if hackers are able to get employment details of the employee? And will it be accurate and as conversational as a human being? Is it going to provide us answers to other queries that are not specific to documents and files?
Even though, this humanoid is just here to help the human resource team but we know that it’s going to go further than this. And are we ready to answers these questions that bring our fear to reality. We will have to wait and watch.
