Star-kid catapult Karan Johar brings to us the sequel that nobody asked for - Student of the Year 2. If you thought that the first movie lowers your IQ levels then get ready for the sequel that feels like a gut-punch for anyone who wants their cinema to have a cohesive plot and for the actors to put in a little bit of effort.
Dharma Productions have released the trailer for their upcoming movie ‘Student of the Year 2’. The sequel stars Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.
The trailer has every quintessential SOTY element - rich kids, buffed-up dudebros, a school on a distant hill-station that can only be accessed by a helicopter and students dancing. This is a school where students do anything but study to bag the title of… you guessed it - Student of the Year.
There was no trace of a ‘special’ number featuring Will Smith or the OG cast in this trailer.
The music of the film has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar and the lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil. That doesn’t really say a lot about the film though, as the trailer tries to cash in on the weird trend of remix-ing a classic Bollywood song ('Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani') to make it seem ‘youthful’.
Dharma is going to be a little busy as they’re all set to release films like ‘Kalank’ with Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, ‘Good News’ with Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, ‘Brahmastra’ with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, and ‘Saaho’ with Prabhas.
Student of the Year 2 releases on May 10. Here’s the trailer:
