High on remake: ‘Street Dancer 3D’ releases another recreated track
Street Dancer 3D song, Lagdi Lahore Di is a recreated version of Guru Randhawa’s hit Punjabi number, featuring Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and Nora Fatehi.
Original songs have become a rare sight in Bollywood, with almost every movie using the tried and tested formula of remakes. Rehashing of songs has now reached a saturation point in the Indian music industry, but the trend doesn’t seem to die out soon.
Remo D’souza’s directorial “Street Dancer 3D” has already created quite a buzz with its promise to deliver a never-seen-before dance battle. The makers have recently released a revamped version of Guru Randhawa’s hit 2017 Punjabi number, “Lahore”. The track has been given a hip-hop twist and shows Varun dancing with Nora, who plays his girlfriend in the movie, while also romancing Shraddha.
Guru Randhawa has re-written the lyrics of the song and has sung it all over again with Tulsi Kumar. The song begins with Varun flirting with Shraddha, moves onto Varun, Shraddha and Nora’s killer dance sequences and ends with a steaming kiss between Varun and Shraddha.
Sharing the song on Twitter, Varun wrote: "Ek sona munda, do soni kudi.. It's time to hit the dance floor with #LagdiLahoreDi! #StreetDancer3D"
"Lagdi Lahore Di" isn’t the only song that has been rehashed for the movie. Earlier, the makers also released the track “Illegal Weapon 2.0”, which is a remake of the Jasmine Sandlas and Garry Sandhu's Punjabi track “Illegal Weapon”. The 1994 classic “Muqabla Muqabla” song has also been recreated for the movie, making it a total of three tracks out of the currently released five to be remakes.
The movie is set to release on January 24, 2020.
