Sambit Patra alleges Delhi officer arrested by CBI “was collecting funds for Manish Sisodia”
Reacting to his OSD’s arrest, Manish Sisodia said “the agency should ensure quick and strictest possible punishment” for Madhav. Sisodia posted a tweet, saying: “I myself have ensured the arrest of several such corrupt officers.”
Ahead of the polling day, the arrest of a Delhi government officer attached with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s office has taken the national capital by storm. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested Gopal Krishna Madhav on Thursday night on bribery charges. According to reports, the agency caught Madhav red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. Madhav is a DANICS (Delhi, Andaman, and Nicobar Islands Civil Service) officer and also works with Sisodia’s office as an officer on special duty (OSD).
As per the agency, Madhav is accused of accepting the bribe in a matter related to the Goods and Services Tax. By the time the Aam Aadmi Party leadership could react to Madhav’s arrest, it was targeted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party on Twitter. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said that the party which came to power riding on the wave of Anna Hazare’s anti-graft movement has “betrayed Delhi voters”.
The party’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra lambasted the AAP and Manish Sisodia. In a tweet, Patra said that the officer was taking an instalment of Rs 2 lakh out of the total bribe of Rs 10 lakh. He claimed that the arrested officer was collecting funds for the party’s senior leader. “It’s clear now why they didn’t appoint a Lokpal in Delhi,” Patra said in a tweet.
मनीष सिशोदिया के लिए पैसे ऐंठते हुए पकड़े गए उनके OSD ..अभी दो लाख का किस्त लिया था ..पूरा दस लाख लेना था।— Sambit Patra (@sambitswaraj) February 7, 2020
मित्रों ..ये सब मिले हुए है जी ..ये सब चोर है जी ..बस acting आम आदमी की कर रहें है।

The Congress also didn’t miss the chance to slam Kejriwal’s party. Rohan Gupta, the Congress spokesperson, said Madhav’s arrest has exposed the real face of the AAP. “This is how the AAP was exploiting the business community in Delhi,” Gupta said.
However, Sisodia has maintained that his party has “zero tolerance for graft”. Reacting to his OSD’s arrest, he said “the agency should ensure quick and strictest possible punishment” for Madhav. Sisodia posted a tweet, saying: “I myself have ensured the arrest of several such corrupt officers.”
Delhi will go to vote on Saturday and the results will be declared on February 11. Both the Congress and BJP will try to reap maximum electoral benefit out of this arrest by mounting pressure on the AAP.
