Ashok Gehlot's direct attack on Sachin Pilot: "He himself was involved in horse-trading."
In his first direct attack on Sachin Pilot, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has accused his former deputy of being involved in the horse-trading of Congress MLAs. Gehlot alleged that despite being the Deputy CM and RPCC president, Pilot was conspiring against the party.
For the first time since the political crisis in Rajasthan surfaced, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot directly accused Sachin Pilot of conspiracy against the party in Rajasthan. The senior Congress leader and three-time CM alleged that Pilot himself was involved in horse-trading activities. He further claimed that these attempts were made by Pilot despite being the deputy CM and Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) president.
On Wednesday, addressing the media in Jaipur, Gehlot said that several attempts were made to topple the Congress government in Rajasthan.
“We have knowledge of the incident and proof,” Gehlot said while claiming that Rs 20 crore deal was being brokered for the horse-trading in Rajasthan.
“We had complained to the SOG (Rajasthan Police - Special Operation Group) that horse-trading is being attempted by the BJP,” the Rajasthan CM said. He said similar attempts were made ahead of the Rajya Sabha election of June 19.
“For ten days, we had to keep our MLAs in a hotel. Had we not kept them (in a hotel) this Manesar game, which is being played right now, was supposed to take place back then (ahead of Rajya Sabha election). At two in the night, these MLAs were being sent to Delhi,” Gehlot said.
The rebel legislators from the Pilot camp are staying in a hotel in Haryana’s Manesar. Notably, fearing horse-trading ahead of the June 19 Rajya Sabha election, the Congress had lodged all its MLAs in two Jaipur resorts.
Gehlot’s direct attack on Pilot comes at a time when it is being speculated that Pilot might return to the Congress’ fold and could be rehabilitated in national politics.
“Those involved in the conspiracy were themselves giving clarifications. Our Deputy Chief Minister and PCC president himself was making a deal,” Rajasthan CM said, accusing Pilot of hobnobbing with the BJP.
“You yourself were involved in the conspiracy. How can you give the clarification (horse-trading)?” Gehlot said.
