As a part of the Ravidas Temple Protests, thousands of Dalits, who trooped into Delhi from states such as Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, marched from Ambedkar Bhawan in central Delhi to Ramlila Maidan on Tuesday.
On August 10, the Ravidas Temple in Delhi’s Tughlakabad was demolished, as per orders of the Supreme Court. However, the demolition sparked intense protests and fresh controversy, with many parties and political leaders demanding the reconstruction of the temple. Voices from the BSP, the AAP, and the INC were particularly vehement in their condemnation of the demolition.
