In May 2018, rumours began to swirl that actress Priyanka Chopra and singer Nick Jonas were dating — and it appears that love and attention for the now-married couple hasn't died down since. These two have never been shy about expressing their adoration for each other both on the red carpet and on social media: Ahead of their first wedding anniversary, Priyanka Chopra got Nick Jonas an adorable gift, a German Shepherd puppy, and captured his reaction in a video she posted on Instagram on Wednesday. As Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas celebrate their first anniversary over the weekend — in 2018, they got married at the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur in both Christian and Hindu ceremonies, one on December 1 and the other on December 2 — we're taking a thorough trip down memory lane to mark how, exactly, their love for one another picked up steam.
2016: Nick Jonas texts a mutual friend about Priyanka Chopra.
"It was Nick who sent the first message," Chopra gushed to Vogue magazine in a January 2019 cover interview. In the piece, Jonas confirmed this, revealing he sent the following text to Priyanka's Quantico co-star and Jonas's friend Graham Rogers: "Priyanka. Is. Wow."
September 2016: Nick Jonas slides into Priyanka Chopra's DMs.
In that same Vogue interview, Nick Jonas revealed that he made the first contact via Twitter DM. "I'm hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet," he wrote to Priyanka Chopra. She responded a day later with a message that said, "My team can read this. Why don't you just text me," Jonas recalled. They began a "friendly" texting relationship, which had, according to Jonas, "an eye toward flirtation."
February 2017: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas meet for the very first time.
The pair met face-to-face for the first time at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, where Nick Jonas pretty much lost his mind when he spotted Priyanka Chopra. "And I put my drink down," Jonas told Vogue, "get on one knee — this is in front of a bunch of people — and I say, 'You're real. Where have you been all my life?'" He asked her to have a drink, and she did.
April 2017: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas hang out casually for the first time.
About a week before they went to their first Met Gala together, Jonas and Chopra first met for a drink in New York, and then hung out at Chopra’s apartment, where he met her mom.
May 2017: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas attend the Met Gala together.
The couple made their first public appearance at the 2017 Met Gala, where they both wore Ralph Lauren and were invited by the designer, but not as a couple. "We were both wearing Ralph Lauren, and we decided to go together, and it was fun," Chopra told US TV host Jimmy Kimmel at the time.
May 2018: Rumours begin to swirl.
A full year later, they ran into each other at the Met Gala again, and the romance only flourished from there.
Memorial Day weekend 2018: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas spend time together.
Celebrity magazine Us Weekly reported that the pair spent Memorial Day (an American holiday held to honour those who died while serving in the US military) together, seeing Beauty and the Beast Live at the Hollywood Bowl, and then going to a baseball game. According to Vogue, Nick Jonas called his mother the next morning and told her he wanted to marry Chopra.
June 2018: Nick Jonas starts commenting on Priyanka Chopra's Instagram.
On June 3, the internet exploded when Nick Jonas commented on one of Priyanka Chopra's photos with a flirty message. Chopra blew up the internet again when she returned the favour with a flirty comment of her own, a few days later.
June 9, 2018: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas attend his cousin's wedding together in the US.
The pair was spotted at New York's JFK Airport before leaving for Atlantic City, for Jonas's cousin's wedding. A source close to Jonas told People that Chopra's presence was "a huge deal," sharing, "He’s dated a lot over the last couple years but it’s never been anything serious, so this is a big step."
June 2018: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are spotted in Mumbai.
After the wedding, the pair headed to India, where Jonas met Chopra's family and spent time with the actress's mother. At this time, they started making frequent appearances in each other's Instagram stories, solidifying their relationship.
July 19, 2018: Nick Jonas proposes in Greece.
Nick Jonas got down on one knee and popped the question in Crete, Greece, where he waited until after midnight on Priyanka Chopra's birthday (July 18) to propose. He even shut down the Tiffany & Co. in London to pick out a ring. “I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?” Jonas told Vogue. Chopra was speechless. “No joke — she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence,” Jonas shared. He told her, “I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.”
August 14, 2018: Fans spot Priyanka Chopra's engagement ring.
The world got its first glance at her new rock when Chopra's friend and actress Raveena Tandon posted Instagram photos that clearly showed a huge ring on a very important finger.
August 18, 2018: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas share their engagement photos.
The couple finally confirmed their engagement in Instagram posts of themselves dressed in traditional Indian attire. Nick Jonas shared an image with the caption, "Future Mrs. Jonas. My heart. My love." The couple later shared photos from their roka ceremony held with the Jonas and Chopra families in Mumbai.

Their first red carpet appearance as a newly-engaged couple was at the Ralph Lauren 50th anniversary fashion show during New York Fashion Week.

Chopra celebrated her engagement with a bridal shower at Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Box Café in New York City. For the occasion, she wore a white strapless feathered Marchesa dress while raising a glass with A-list friends, like, actress Lupita Nyong'o.

The guest list for the bachelorette weekend in Amsterdam included Priyanka Chopra's future sister-in-law, Game of Thrones actress, Sophie Turner, actress and cousin sister Parineeti Chopra and businessman Mukesh Ambani's daughter Isha Ambani, among others.
November 12, 2018: Nick Jonas celebrates his bachelor party.
Jonas also set sail on a massive yacht for his bachelor party. While the location has never been revealed, he gifted his groomsmen custom electric scooters.

Chopra and Jonas's big day was held at the lavish Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. The couple had a Christian wedding service officiated by Nick Jonas's father Paul Kevin Jonas, Sr. The entire bridal party wore custom looks by Ralph Lauren. Two days after their wedding, the couple continued their celebrations with a wedding reception in Delhi. Guests included Nick Jonas's parents, grandmother, brother Joe and his fiancée Sophie Turner, plus Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu and brother Siddharth Chopra.

January 28, 2019: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's fourth wedding reception is held in the US.
Bringing the wedding extravaganza into the new year, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas celebrated their nuptials one last time in Belmont, North Carolina, where the family owns a restaurant, Nellie’s Southern Kitchen, according to People.
