Goalkeeper Nidhin Lal arrested for running sex racket in Goa
The keeper recently grabbed the headline when he accused that his last club – Minerva Punjab – had not paid him eight months’ salary.
Former Chennaiyin FC and Minerva Punjab FC goalkeeper Nidhin Lal and his associate were arrested in Goa on Tuesday for allegedly running a prostitution racket inside a spa-cum-massage parlour in the port town of Vasco.
A Times of India report states the Kerala-born goalkeeper was caught by the Vasco police along with Shyni Joseph. A raid was conducted after the police got information that sexual services were being offered to clients at the massage parlour. Police confirmed the case by sending an undercover cop as a customer to uncover the truth about the spa. Three women were rescued from the spa while Lal and Joseph were remanded for six days of police custody.
Nidhin Lal is an experienced goalkeeper in the Indian football circuit having played for Mumbai FC, Chennaiyin FC, Shillong Lajong and Minerva Punjab FC. The keeper recently grabbed the headline when he accused that his last club – Minerva Punjab – had not paid him eight months’ salary or given him the NOC (No Objection Certificate) to pursue football elsewhere. He also showed messages sent to him by the football club owner saying he will “destroy” the players’ career.
The latest developments will add more dimensions to the constantly changing narratives around the Lal’s case against his former football club. Punjab FC had called Lal’s allegations baseless and sent him a legal notice regarding his press conference that defamed the former I-League champions.
According to the TOI report, the goalkeeper had been residing in Goa after leaving Punjab FC. He had started the parlour to “make ends meet” and was also training children football in the locality. Neither Nidhin nor his representatives were available for comment. We will add more the copy once we hear back from them.
