New Skype for web, works only on a few browsers
Microsoft has released Skype for web with new features, including call recording.
The video-calling platform Skype can now be accessed directly on web. No need to install the app to start video calling. But, the web version of the platform can be used only on Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Any computer with Windows 10 and Mac OSX10.12 will be able to access Skype for Web.
Microsoft has also added new features for the platform: HD video calling, call recording and a 'find within conversations' option that allows the users to easily find messages in a chat box by typing the word or phrase you want to find in the search box.
Similar to WhatsApp, where you can find images and links shared by friends, Skype also allows its users to find files, links and photos in a conversation. Microsoft recently brought a feature that allows Skype users to blur the background while doing a video call.
Microsoft’s Skype competes with Google Duo and other online video chat apps. Facebook-owned WhatsApp is also one of the options for video calling.
