Netflix introduces new subscription plan for smartphone users
Netflix, the online video-streaming company has been witnessing slow user growth in the past few months. The new subscription plan, stated to be the cheapest in the world, might help boost subscription.
Netflix has introduced one of the cheapest subscription packs for India. The company has announced a Rs 199 plan that provides one month of subscription to a user. This plan is focused only on smartphone users. The subscription will only work on smartphones and tablets and only one user can watch videos at a time. Also, the video can be watched only in standard quality.
Other plans provided by the Netflix are priced at Rs 499, Rs 649, and Rs 799.
The cheapest Rs 499 plan provided a month of subscription and can be watched on any device including laptop, TV, phone or tablet by a single person. But users won't be able to watch videos in HD or Ultra HD quality.
The other two plans priced at Rs 649 and Rs 799 allows the users to share the screen with two and four people respectively. Users can also watch videos in Ultra HD and HD resolution.
The company was concerned about the slow user growth, so this is one of the plans that is expected to help increase the user base. Netflix is facing tough competition from rivals such as Amazon's Prime Video and Hotstar. Hotstar is owned by the Indian Walt Disney.
