Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2019 G-CLASS G 350d SUV in India. The entry-level diesel variant SUV is inspired by its costlier variant, the Mercedes-AMG G63 that was launched in India a year ago. It has been priced at Rs 1.5 crore in India.
The SUV features a 3.0-litre in-line six- BS-VI compliant diesel motor. The 2956cc engine produces 286PS at 3400 to 4600 rpm and provides a torque of 600 Nm between 1200 and 3200 rpm. The motor of the engine is paired with a 9G‑TRONIC torque converter automatic transmission that helps it accelerate to 100 kmph in 7.4s. The top speed has been electronically limited to 199 Kmph.
The same engine that powers the G 350d is seen in different variants of S-Class and E-Class of Mercedes cars. Other features of the SUV include a four-wheel-drive that splits 40:60 front and rare ratio. Mercedes has included a new independent front suspension, a rear axle and reduced the weight by 170 kg to enhance its on and off-road capabilities. It also comes with a G-Mode for off-road driving.
The interiors also seem promising with a 12.3-inch floating instrument/infotainment system and trimmed leather seats. The G 350d comes with 20-inch wheels. Land Rover Discovery and Volvo XC90 are a few of the options available in the price range.
