‘Love Aaj Kal’ trailer out: Kartik and Sara fail to impress
A trailer of Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan starrer Love Aaj Kal is finally out, and it’s not what we expected.
The much-awaited trailer of Imtiaz Ali’s “Love Aaj Kal” has just been released and the Internet just can’t stop talking about it. The movie is an Imtiaz Ali remake of his 2009 release of the same name. The 2009’s “Love Aaj Kal” featured Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles and was much loved by both audience and critics.
“Love Aaj Kal” has been making headlines ever since the much-loved cast of Kartik and Sara was announced. The already high expectations of the audience were raised with the release of the first look poster on Thursday but the trailer seems to fail to keep up.
The trailer excels on cinematography but the rehearsed storyline lacks to keep you hooked. The story, very similar to the original movie, travels between two time periods, 1990 and 2020. Refreshing your memories of the original, the trailer proves to be nothing more than a dose of nostalgia.
Sara Ali Khan as Zoe, looks convincing as Kartik’s modern-day lover, but her dialogue delivery pulls her character down. Kartik as Veer fails to justify his role and just makes you miss Saif on screen. Arushi Sharma plays Kartik’s love interest in the 1990's, a shy-sweet girl, identical to the role of Giselli Monteiro in the 2009 movie.
The trailer shows the lovers struggling with challenges like society, career and love, rehashing the original storyline of commitment phobic couples in a less captivating manner.
Seeing Kartik and Sara on screen makes you miss Deepika and Saif’s onscreen chemistry, making you skeptical about the hit’s remake. Only the movie can tell if Imtiaz manages to recreate the magic he is famous for.
