Katrina Kaif to Kate Middleton: Best-dressed celebs this week
It was quite an eventful week for Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, and Kate Middleton. All four landed on our best-dressed list because they wore a little something extra — think bold colours, and combinations — which made their looks eye-catching.
This week's list of best-dressed celebs had us under a spell. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Kate Middleton somehow made sparkles look cooler than ever in their own unique ways. While attending an event in Dublin, Ireland, the British royal proved that all that glitters can sometimes be green in a gorgeous metallic dress; the Bollywood star picked a heavily-embroidered pantsuit for a recent event in the Middle East. Meanwhile, actress Alia Bhatt found a way to make her lilac dress look even cooler with a pair of striking yellow heels, and Katrina Kaif's breezy Sabyasachi lehenga made a practical choice for Mumbai’s hot, and humid climate. Keep reading to see our top celebrity style picks from this week.
During her trip to the Middle East, where she attended the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2020, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja stepped out in one head-turning outfit after another. One of the many notable looks was an embroidered black pantsuit by Peter Dundas, which Kapoor Ahuja paired with sparkling Bulgari jewels. The blazer’s vintage-inspired embroidery ran through the jacket’s power shoulders and across the sleeves, continuing all the way down to the matching trousers. The high-waisted, flared fit of her pants added to Kapoor Ahuja’s tall frame. Careful not to go overboard with sparkle, she picked a diamond pendant and matching earrings from Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti designs. She completed her evening look with a middle-parted half updo, smoky eyes and soft rosy lips.
Even though Alia Bhatt’s schedule is full shooting for multiple upcoming releases, the Bollywood star makes sure to set time aside for her favourite people. On Wednesday, the star cast of Guilty — the first production to come out of filmmaker Karan Johar’s new digital content company, Dharmatic — gathered in Mumbai for its screening. Bhatt attended the premiere to support one of best friends, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, who also stars in the Netflix original. For the occasion, Alia Bhatt picked an easy cotton dress. The lilac number, which featured a tie-up detail in the front, is by fashion label Summer Somewhere, and was paired with strappy, square-toed sandals in pale yellow by Aldo. Allowing the interesting colour combination to stand out, Bhatt skipped on distracting jewellery pieces. Instead, she drew attention to her luminous skin with a dewy makeup look, and left her hair open in soft, slightly dishevelled waves.
If there’s one print Katrina Kaif absolutely cannot get enough of, it’s got to be florals. From romantic roses to cheerful daisies, the star’s worn traditional Indian ensembles patterned with just about every bloom you can think of. Her most recent outfit, spotted in Mumbai on Tuesday, further proved her love for the trend. A day after celebrating the launch of her next film, Sooryavanshi's trailer, Kaif stepped out to meet fans in a breezy Sabyasachi lehenga doused in pink and peach flowers. Featuring a simple sleeveless blouse, a voluminous skirt and a matching dupatta, Katrina Kaif’s Sabyasachi lehenga set painted a pretty picture without weighing her down. Her perfectly coordinated look was worn with nothing but a pair of chunky chaandbali earrings, which, with their emerald and ruby detailing, added an interesting pop of colour to the otherwise pastel palette of her ensemble.
On Tuesday, as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, attended British ambassador to Ireland, Robin Barnett’s reception in Dublin, she turned heads in an emerald metallic look by edgy British brand, The Vampire’s Wife. The iridescent silk chiffon dress featured a gently nipped-in waist and a hem that fell just below the calf in soft ruffles. The casual event — the Duchess and Prince William enjoyed a pint as they mingled with guests — called for a playful design, and the dress with its ruffled sleeves and sparkling texture fit the bill perfectly. The British royal paired the on-trend midi dress with Manolo Blahnik heels, a gold clutch, and a pair of H&M earrings.
