Karan Johar helps 6 millennials get ready for romance in Netflix's What The Love!
In Netflix's new reality show, What The Love!, Karan Johar and his glam squad are sending millennials on blind dates with Bollywood stars, including Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and Sunny Leone.
Over the years, Karan Johar has given movie enthusiasts some unforgettable romantic blockbusters, including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). And if there's one thing we can all agree on about the director, it's that he always has an exciting new must-watch brewing. From hosting his own talk show, Koffee With Karan, to taking the judge's seat in reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, the multi-hyphenate is just as at ease with being in front of the camera as he is behind one. This time around, Johar's taking over our Netflix screens with a reality series that brings together silver screen and real-life romance.
"Having spent a good part of the last 20 years helping us understand love, Karan Johar is back on his mission with What The Love!, a show where contestants team up with Karan and his friends for an exciting journey of glitz, glamour and a lot of fun," Netflix India shared on January 20, 2020, along with a trailer of Karan Johar's new show, titled, What The Love!. If you can't wait to get home and hit play, here's a peek into the moving journeys you can witness on What The Love!:
What The Love!, which premiered on Netflix on January 30, 2020, brings together a team of beauty and fashion experts, including celebrity stylist Maneka Harisinghani, and makeup pro Shaan Muttathil, along with a handful of Bollywood stars picked by Karan Johar himself, to prepare six millennials for love. Together, Johar's team mentors each individual and helps them overcome personal battles and struggles before sending them on a blind date with (surprise!) a celebrity they weren't expecting to hang out with.
A sneak peek shared on the director's Instagram page shows who's on the list: actors Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, and Ali Fazal, along with actresses Parineeti Chopra, Sunny Leone and Huma Qureshi, among others. With each episode, Netflix's new special, What The Love! aims to help the contestants face the realities of love in a fun way. And the experiences don't just help them come into their own, they also seem to teach their celebrity dates more about what romance in India is really like.
If the unusual premise of What The Love! has sparked your interest in dating reality shows, Netflix offers another new series that combines several elements of your typical dating show with a big twist. In Netflix's Love Is Blind, which is created and hosted by Hollywood couple, Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the contestants don't get to see each other face-to-face until after they've made a decision about their relationship.
Love Is Blind is a social experiment, where single men and women look for love and get engaged, all before meeting in person. The series doesn't just show the potential couples meeting and flirting while unable to see each other — it follows them as they re-enter their real lives and try to make the relationships work. What's more? Their weddings are set for only a few weeks after from their re-entry into the real world. Love Is Blind will arrive on Netflix just before Valentine's Day, on February, 13.
