Interview: "BJP supporters thrashed me for dissent against CAA NRC at Amit Shah rally"
Harjit Singh was beaten up with iron chairs by those who support the Citizenship Amendment Act when he shouted slogans against the law in a BJP rally while Home Minister Amit Shah was giving a speech.
Harjeet Singh was beaten up by BJP supporters for shouting slogans against the Citizenship Amendment Act at an election rally in Delhi's Babarpur where Union Home Minister Amit Shah was giving a speech asking Delhi residents to “vote with such a force that the current reaches Shaheen Bagh”.
“Take back Citizenship Act”, Singh shouted during Shah’s speech. Singh said he was thrashed with chairs by people who surrounded him. In a video that went viral, Amit Shah was seen asking his security officials to take the protestor away safely during the incident.
Singh said that instead of nabbing the attackers, the Delhi police arrested him from the venue.

The first-year political science student who's a resident of Delhi’s Sangam Vihar says his entire family supports BJP. He had gone to Babarpur join the anti-CAA protest.
Singh says that the Delhi Police didn’t provide him with any medical treatment for nearly 20 hours after the attack. "The police didn’t do an MLC. When I approached the hospitals for MLC, they refused to carry it out saying I had protested against CAA NRC and hence my MLC can’t be done” he said.
