Indira Gandhi in Pictures: Photo Tributes on the Anniversary of Her Birth
On the anniversary of her birth, people have posted fond memories of her and tributes to her leadership on Twitter, which gave us a look into some rarely seen images of the woman India termed The Iron Lady.
If Indira Gandhi were still alive, she would have turned 102 today. Born in 1917 in Allahabad, she held the post of Prime Minister twice - once between 1966 to 1977, and then again between 1980 to 1984.
Her time at the helm was fraught with controversy, human rights abuses, violence, and communal marginalisation. And yet, she was an incredibly strong leader, known for bringing India to the forefront of foreign policy discussions across the world, liberating Bangladesh in the India Pakistan war of 1971, and more.
For some, she is also remembered as the force behind the darkest days India has faced.
