Indian Super League: How should Kerala Blasters lineup against Bengaluru FC?
This is Schattorie's biggest test since taking over as the head coach of the Kerala team but the former NorthEast United coach has a decent track record against the Blues.
Eelco Schattorie has a problem. The Kerala Blasters coach has a selection headache with three of his first-choice centre-backs recovering from serious injuries. Unfortunately for the Dutch manager, he now has to field an inexperienced backline of Indian players against defending Champions Bengaluru FC on Saturday. Add to that the pressure of the encounter being the most-watched and attended fixture of Indian Super League in most years.
This is Schattorie's biggest test since taking over as the head coach of the Kerala team but the former NorthEast United coach has a decent track record against the Blues. His former side faced the Blues in the semifinal stage last season and only narrowly lost out to a very good Bengaluru side with Miku as the forward.
With Bengaluru expected to dominate the match, Schattorie will be forgiven if he chooses to kill his offensive ideology for a more cautious approach. A two-man centre-back pairing of Abdul Hakku and Raju Gaikwad doesn't invoke confidence so Schattorie might field young Jeakson Singh in a floating libero role along with the centre-backs. Mohammed Rakip and Jessel Carneiro should take up the full back role while Mario Arques will be expected to partner Mustapha Gning in the central midfield.
Schattorie will also have to choose between the vision of Sahal Abdul Samad and the directness of his wingers such as Rahul KP and Halicharan Narzary. Here is your opportunity to wear the magic hat and predict Kerala's line up for the match against Bengaluru.
