Indian Railways will have a private train in its system next month
The first private train will run between Lucknow and Delhi from October this year
Going ahead with the policy of privatisation of railways in India, the government will flag off the first 'privately' operated train soon. Owned by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd., an autonomous subsidiary of the Indian Railways, the train will be creating not just history but will also pave way for private entities and corporates to own trains in India. We talked to railway expert and former Railway Finance Comission official Radha Krishnan to know how it would change the rail travel scenarion in India.
