Coincidentally, the first T20I at the Holkar Stadium was played between India and Sri Lanka on December 22, 2017 and the Blues had thrashed the visitors by 88 runs. Before the Holkar Stadium was built, cricket matches used to take place at the city's Nehru Stadium.
In 1997, Sri Lanka had played against India at the Nehru Stadium, but the match was abandoned after the visitors had complained about the quality of the pitch.
The first T20I in Guwahati was called off after rain played spoilsport so the result in the Indore T20I has become all the more crucial in the three-match series. Luckily, the weather forecast suggests a pleasant winter day in the central Indian city, which will hopefully mean a match that yields a result.
With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in sublime form, and opener KL Rahul showing signs that he is back to his lethal best, Sri Lanka might have a tough time against the Men in Blue. That said, Sri Lanka do have a gamechangers in their lineup, especially suited for the shortest format of the game, and the likes of Avishka Fernando and Lasith Malinga will be raring to prove their doubters wrong.
