In pictures: Coronavirus Quarantine culture from rooftops, balconies and windows
People are singing, exercising and taking part in flash mobs from their balconies in order to cope up in these distressing times.
As countries around the globe enforce social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, people are confined to their homes and are feeling a loss of control. To keep their spirits alive while in quarantine, many are taking to their balconies, rooftops and windows to communicate with each other.
People in Spain were filmed acting out with music, creating duos across apartment buildings. The citizens of China’s Wuhan – where the virus originated – were seen chanting “Keep it up, Wuhan!” and singing patriotic songs from their windows to encourage themselves and their neighbours in their efforts to save their city.
In Italy, citizens were witnessed playing instruments and singing from their balconies during their lockdown. In India, residents clapped and banged utensils from their balconies to cheer for emergency personnel and sanitation workers on the frontlines in the fight against coronavirus.
