Identity politics is something we play with quite irresponsibly. Remember how Karnataka handled it during their election season? All political parties were pandering to the 'Kannada Pride'. They made a flag, they dropped Hindi from metro signs, they wanted to ban beef. You might be wrong if you thought fringe groups of southern states were against North Indians. They are against anything that could threaten their “culture”. Srinath Srinivasan shares an experience he faced at Bengaluru Metro. He is a young business and tech journalist from Chennai who lives in Bengaluru. While he was travelling with his colleague, he was attacked by locals for being the outsider.
