Political parties can't tolerate dissent, received death threat, says actor
Actor Kaushik Sen, one of the signatories to the letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi voicing conern over the increasing incidents of violence and mob lynching in India, told Asiaville that he received a death threat on Wednesday evening. He claims that it is not just the BJP, but all parties in India were not willing to tolerate dissent. Politicians feel that people who question them are a threat to them, he said.
Sen was among the 49 signatories including filmmakers Aparna Sen, Anurag Kashyap, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Mani Ratnam, Shyam Benegal, historian Ramachandra Guha, author Amit Chaudhuri, scholar Ashis Nandy and actor Konkona Sen Sharma who signed the letter voicing their concern on the increasing violence in the name of religion.
