Hima Das, athletic star from Assam, is on a golden run, with her latest gold in the 200-m event in the Czech Republic
Hima Das, India's athletic star, has done the country proud, winning 3 international titles in the space of 11 days.
The 19-year-old from Assam came in the limelight with her gold-winning performance in the 400-m run in the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018.
Hima Das also holds the national record for the 400m in 50.79 seconds. She is also the first Indian athlete to win gold in under-20 athletic events run by the International Athletic Federation.
At an athletics meet in the Czech Republic on Saturday, she won gold in the 200-m race. This was the 3rd gold for Hima Das within a span of two weeks. Her time was 23.10 seconds. A timeline of her medals this month:
July 2 - First gold at the Poznan athletics tournament was in Poland on July 2. Hima Das won the gold in the 200 meter event. She did 23.65 seconds and finished first.
July 7 - Second gold: She won another gold on July 7 in the same country, crossing the finish line in 23.97 seconds in the 200m race.
Also, Mohammed Anas of India won gold in the 400m race in the Czech Republic and qualified for the World Athletics Championships. He finished in 45.21 seconds.
