Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary met Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav have reportedly struck a deal.
The announcement of Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati that they would contest the coming Lok Sabha polls in the alliance was not the last word on the UP grand coalition.
Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Chaudhary met Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow and the two reportedly struck a deal, with the SP agreeing to spare one seat out of its quota of 38 for the RLD.
The RLD will now contest three seats in UP, it is learned, with Ajit Singh reportedly looking to contest from Muzaffarnagar, the site of the 2013 Jat-Muslim riot. The inclusion of the RLD, with a Jat following, makes the grand coalition stronger in western UP.
