Republican Senator disagrees, Trump says impeach
Mitt Romney had criticized Trump's appeal to China and Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Bidden "wrong and appalling". He had also called Trump a "con artist" in the 2016 campaign.
US President Donald Trump has called Republican Senator Mitt Romney a "pompous ass" and called for his impeachment. On Friday, Mitt Romney had criticized Trump's appeal to China and Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Bidden, calling it "wrong and appalling". He had also called Trump a "con artist" in the 2016 campaign.
He emphasises in his tweet that he has heard that the people of Utah are unhappy with their elected Senator and they had realized that voting him was a mistake. He called Romney "pompous" and a "fool who plays into the hands of the Do-Nothing-Democrats".
He says in another tweet that in addition to interfering in the 2020 elections, the Democrats are still interfering in the 2016 elections and they must be stopped.
Not only are the Do Nothing Democrats interfering in the 2020 Election, but they are continuing to interfere in the 2016 Election. They must be stopped!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 5, 2019
In a third tweet, Trump said that Romney’s time was up.
Here are some more.
Somebody please wake up Mitt Romney and tell him that my conversation with the Ukrainian President was a congenial and very appropriate one, and my statement on China pertained to corruption, not politics. If Mitt worked this hard on Obama, he could have won. Sadly, he choked!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 5, 2019
Mitt Romney never knew how to win. He is a pompous “ass” who has been fighting me from the beginning, except when he begged me for my endorsement for his Senate run (I gave it to him), and when he begged me to be Secretary of State (I didn’t give it to him). He is so bad for R’s!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 5, 2019
This came after Romney, who had lost the 2012 elections to former US President Barack Obama, had slammed Trump for asking China and Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden on Friday.
He tweeted that Trump's "brazen and unprecedented" appeal to China and Ukraine to investigate 2020 Democratic Presidential nominee and Trump's rival, Joe Biden is wrong and appalling.
By all appearances, the President’s brazen and unprecedented appeal to China and to Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden is wrong and appalling.— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) October 4, 2019
In another tweet, Mitt Romney says that this shocking social media lash-out by Trump while the Democratic nomination process is ongoing, is anything other than politically motivated.
When the only American citizen President Trump singles out for China’s investigation is his political opponent in the midst of the Democratic nomination process, it strains credulity to suggest that it is anything other than politically motivated.— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) October 4, 2019
In the 2016 campaign, Romney had called Trump a "con man who was unfit for Presidency". However, the two later set aside their differences. Trump had also endorsed Mitt Romney's political comeback last year.
