Yes, yes, yes - today, intersectional representation won!
This week, it was announced that in the 25th installment of the epic spy saga, the role of Agent 007 will be handed to British actress Lyshana Lynch.
This is the first time a Person of Colour will play the legendary role of the quintessential British spy.
Remember back in 2012, when the first rumours came out that Idris Elba would succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond? The internet and pretty much every millennial out there went crazy, hoping the indescribably gorgeous Elba would be the first black actor to play the titular role in the franchise.
It didn’t happen then, but it has happened now - Lynch will be the first black actor to play the role of 007. Although Daniel Craig will retain the name of Bond, James Bond; it will be Lynch who takes on the mantle of Agent 007.
