Fashionista: Lady in Red
I think red is a colour that everyone can pull off.
I had a lot of fun putting this outfit together because red is one of my favourite colours. I also think it’s one of the colours that everyone can pull off. Seriously. Just look at this outfit.
The red printed silk-wool blend midi skirt is from Gucci; crafted from pure silk, the pleated skirt is an essential for your wardrobe, no matter what the season is. It features a fully pleated design, a concealed fastening, and has a whimsical porcelain garden print. What’s not to love? Oh wait, maybe the $1321 price tag that places it firmly out of reach for most of us. So I hunted high and low for a skirt that could feature in today’s haul and I found this gorgeous number at Rosegal. The knee-length A-line pleated skirt features a lovely floral print and is perfect for the summer. Plus, bonus. It’s only 1657 rupees!
I’ve paired the skirt with a red cropped blouse from FarFetch which retails for $541. I love the red on red look, so I decided to go with this tied Bardot flounce sleeve crop top from Shein. It retails for around 907 rupees and is perfect for the skirt. The fabric is not stretchy, though, so make sure you look up the sizing chart and choose properly. What’s not to love about the Boho vibe of this top?
The strappy gold leather sandals are from Aquazzura and retail for $681. I chose to go with these Tao Paris sandals that retail for 1590 rupees on Myntra that look super comfy, courtesy of their resin soles and Velcro fastening. Plus, I don’t know about you, but these sandals absolutely scream summer.
The gorgeous black clutch in the picture is from Moschino and retails for around $532. But worry not. I’ve found an equally gorgeous clutch on Amazon India that retails for 598 rupees. With a synthetic exterior and a silk interior, I especially like that it’s perfect for formal or casual outings.
The 18K gold-plated chain necklace is from HMY Jewelry and features a simple design and gleaming gold-plated metal. It retails for around $30. I had an interesting time looking for gold-plated jewellery because 99 percent of them seem to feature wedding designs, and aren’t appropriate for a casual day out. Then I happened on these faux pearls that are coated with 18K gold polish, and I loved them so much I just had to include them. They’re an affordable 690 rupees over on Mirraw.
The etched chandelier gold earrings feature half-moon charms in both smooth and etched finishes which are linked together to create the statement-making jewellery; they retail for $29 from Treasure & Bond. That’s not an impossible price, but I prefer these vintage-looking gold-plated danglers that feature little inlaid pearls; they perfectly compliment the faux pearl necklace I chose. They retail for 345 rupees on FlipKart.
Cost of look: $3134
