Distributors steer away from sexual harassment accused Alok Nath starrer Main Bhi
The producer of Main Bhi has reportedly said that distributors are unwilling to touch his film as it features Alok Nath. The film was wrapped in July of 2018.
Actor Alok Nath, has been accused of rape by director Vinta Nanda. The actor has shot a film in which he plays a judge. The film, titled Main Bhi has been produced by TV actor -turned-producer Imran Khan. Reportedly, distributors are unwilling to touch the film because of Alok Nath’s presence.
Imran Khan, while talking to the Mumbai Mirror, said that the film was wrapped in July of 2018, way before the allegations against Alok Nath surfaced. Khan feels that it is injustice to a small producer.
The film deals with sexual harassment and Alok Nath plays the role of an upright judge. Imran Khan, however, says that he registered the title before the #MeToo movement took shape, and the film deals with the sexual abuse of boys from Bhopal.
Imran Khan has worked with Alok Nath and Vinta Nanda on two serials, Tara and Hero Uncle. He asserted that none of the women complained about Alok Nath’s behaviour during the shooting of Main Bhi in Bhopal.
Few weeks ago, Alok Nath made headlines when he was spotted in the trailer of Ajay Devgn starrer De De Pyaar De. When Ajay Devgn, the lead actor of the film was questioned about Alok Nath’s presence in the film, he chose to not answer the question. He said, “This is not the right place to talk about it. Jinki aap baat kar rahe hai woh film uske pehle complete hui (the film had been completed before the allegations surfaced against the person).”
Actress Tanushree Dutta, who is considered the face of the #MeToo movement in India, slammed Ajay Devgn and the makers of the film De De Pyaar De. “Tinsel town is full of liars, show-offs, and spineless hypocrites. And it seems by a large public consensus that the signpost is pointing currently at Ajay Devgn,” she said in a statement.
Responding to this, Ajay Devgn explained why it would have been a loss for the producers, Bhushan Kumar, Ankur Garg and Luv Ranjan, to reshoot Nath’s portions, which were shot in a span of 40 days.
