‘One nation, one ration card’ along with ‘doorstep delivery of ration’ to be launched in Delhi
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Tuesday, announced that the Delhi cabinet has approved the doorstep delivery of ration. The Central government’s ‘One nation, one ration card’ policy will be implemented at the same time. The scheme is expected to roll out in six to seven months.
The Delhi government, on Tuesday, approved the doorstep delivery of ration scheme in the national capital. Along with the launch of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s pet project, the Central government “One nation, One ration card” policy will be implemented in Delhi.
On Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the scheme is expected to be rolled out in the next six to seven months.
The ‘doorstep delivery of ration’ scheme was one of the key poll planks of the AAP. During his last tenure, Delhi CM Kejriwal had locked horns with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal accusing him of trying to block the scheme.
While announcing the scheme, Kejriwal termed it as a "revolutionary" move. The scheme will be known as "Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Ration Yojna''.
The scheme, which was approved at a meeting of the Delhi Cabinet, will be rolled out after the completion of the tendering process and other administrative requirements.
"Under the scheme, wheat, flour, rice and sugar, packed hygienically in bags, will be delivered to the doorstep of people. Taking ration from a PDS shop will be optional," Kejriwal said in a virtual press briefing.
He said that with the implementation of the doorstep delivery of ration scheme, the Centre's ''One Nation One Ration Card'' scheme, will also come into effect in Delhi.
https://t.co/urxJR5Y3IF

Kejriwal recalled that he and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia had fought for the rights of people to ration before joining politics and even faced attacks from the ration mafia.
“Like doorstep delivery of services, the scheme of delivery of the ration on the doorsteps of citizens will be a big turning point in governance,” CM Kejriwal said.
