While Aam Admi Party (AAP) had made "Bijli,Paani, Siksha" (electricity, water and education) their poll planks ahead of the Delhi elections, BJP raised issues such as whether Arvind Kejriwal was a terrorist or not and what to do with "traitors" and people protesting at Shaheen Bagh.
By the end of the campaign, from local BJP leaders to U.P. CM Yogi Adityanath, to Home Minister Amit Shah to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, everyone had mentioned Shaheen Bagh and called it various names. In fact, Home Minister Amit Shah asked people to press the EVM buttons "with such an anger that the protesters in Shaheen Bagh feel the current”.
Following the massive mandate Arvind Kejriwal and AAP recieved on Tuesday, Shaheen Bagh decided to express their feelings in a different manner. They staged a silent protest all day against the police brutality in Jamia and Tughlaqabad. So when we went there, we thought no one would be speaking to us.
But as they say, resistance always finds a voice.
