Chhapaak actor Deepika Padukone reaches JNU, expresses solidarity with protesting students
Deepika joined the growing list of stars and influencers who are standing by the students, who were attacked by a masked mob on Sunday
Expressing solidarity with the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), superstar Deepika Padukone reached JNU on Tuesday evening and stood by them. The Chhapaak actor was spotted standing shoulder to shoulder with the students who are protesting against the dastardly attack on the Sunday, when a masked mob attacked the university and hurt students and teachers alike.
Earlier several Bollywood personalities including directors Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap, actors Anil Kapoor and Alia Bhatt had described the Sunday night violence at JNU as "disturbing" and "shocking", and demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice.
Deepika joined the growing list of stars and influencers who are showing solidarity the students, who faced horror and alleged police inaction on Sunday.
Deepika was seen standing with the students while former student of JNU, Kanhaiya Kumar was delivering a speech at the Sabarmati T-point. She stood there while crowd chanted slogans like "Aazadi" and "Jai Bheem." JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh was also present there with wounds still fresh.

Deepika had earlier sopke about Sunday’s violence at the JNU campus in an interview to NDTV. “I feel proud to see that we aren’t scared to express ourselves... I think the fact that we are thinking about the country and its future.... Whatever may be our point of view, it’s nice to see,” Deepika said on Monday. She has been in the national capital for the last two days as she promotes her upcoming film Chhapaak.
On Monday night, several other Bollywood personalities like Vishal Bharadwaj, Swanand Kirkire, Richa Chhadha and Tapsee Pannu among other joined huge protests in Mumbai.
