Bus row a “cruel joke”: UP Cong MLA targets her own party and Congress state govts
As the Priyanka Gandhi migrant bus row continues to rage, UP Congress MLA Aditi Singh has targeted her own party. She has levelled accusations that the list of 1,000 buses – provided by UP Congress meant to ferry migrant workers – had numbers that were faked and that 297 were junk buses.
Uttar Pradesh Congress MLA Aditi Singh has added fuel to the controversy raging around 1,000 buses arranged by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for ferrying the stranded migrant workers of UP.
The young legislator has targeted her own party saying that the Congress has played a joke on the migrant workers. Singh has accused the party of politicising the plight of migrant workers. The Raebareli MLA has also accused the Congress-led state governments - including the Rajasthan government - of not helping the migrant workers and the UP residents stranded in their states during the nationwide lockdown.
“What is the need of such a low level of politics at the time of a pandemic? The list of one 1,000 buses was sent (by Congress) and more than half of the registration numbers were fake,” she said in a tweet. “297 were junk buses, 98 were auto-rickshaws and vehicles like ambulance, 68 vehicles without any papers (were provided). What sort of cruel joke this is? If there were buses, why didn’t you send them to Rajasthan, Punjab and Maharashtra?”
— Aditi Singh (@AditiSinghINC) May 20, 2020
She has further targeted the Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan Government over the UP students stuck in Kota. “The Congress government didn’t even drop these students to the UP border. (UP CM)Yogi Adityanath had rescued them and brought them back to their homes,” Singh said.
Once a close aide of the Gandhi family, Singh has turned a rebel and has been siding with the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government.
The Congress general secretary had provided a list of 1,000 buses to rescue the UP migrant workers stranded in different states. Later, the Bharatiya Janata Party hit back at the Congress and Vadra saying that there was a discrepancy in the list provided. The BJP leaders have gone to the extent of terming the controversy as the Congress “bus scam”.
