Nobody did the 2010s like Priyanka Chopra. See her best moments of this decade
Priyanka Chopra Jonas began the decade as one of Bollywood's biggest celebrities, and ended it as a famous global superstar. She has quite literally established herself as an A-list actress in Hollywood before our very eyes. Let's look back on her most memorable moments of 2010-2019.
We don't know if Priyanka Chopra Jonas started the decade with the intent to blow everyone's minds, but that's exactly what she did. Over the past 10 years, the 37-year-old actress and producer has fulfilled many accomplishments: unforgettable appearances at the Oscars, rocking a statement-making head-to-toe lilac look at her friend and former actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding, becoming a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and also becoming, arguably, the most successful Bollywood celebrity ever to cross over to Hollywood.
The story of how Priyanka Chopra Jonas went from a Bollywood actress to an award-winning A-list Hollywood star, who features regularly on the covers of Vogue and Time magazines alike, is a remarkable tale of self-reinvention and self-definition in the digital age. In the last couple of years, she has appeared on the Forbes Power Women list and Time's 100 Most Influential People list. Priyanka Chopra Jonas even had time to get married to US singer Nick Jonas and take a few relaxing vacations. But those are just a few of her many achievements from this decade. In light of the official capping of the decade, we’ve highlighted some of Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ most memorable moments and accomplishments of the last 10 years. She has achieved a lot.
The stunning transformation of Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is one accomplished actress. After winning the Miss World crown in 2000, she broke into Bollywood in 2003 with the film The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. But, since the beginning of this decade, Chopra Jonas had her sights set on global domination. After making her International music debut with her single 'In My City,' which featured artist will.i.am, she voiced an airplane, named Ishani, in the 2013 Disney animated movie, Planes. From 2015-2018, Priyanka Chopra Jonas was seen as FBI agent Alex Parrish on Quantico for three seasons. With that she became the first Indian actress to headline an American network series in the role.
In 2016, she even received the People's Choice Award for favourite actress in a new TV Series for her role on Quantico, becoming the first South Asian actress to win the Hollywood award. In January 2017, Chopra Jonas won another People's Choice Award. As an established star on Quantico, she won the award for favourite dramatic TV actress. Priyanka Chopra Jonas also starred in Baywatch (2017), A Kid Like Jake (2018) and Isn't It Romantic (2019).
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, the red carpet’s queen
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is among the most in-demand actresses of the moment. Along the way, she has attended many red carpet events wearing show-stopping gowns. From the emoji evoking red dress designed by Jason Wu at the 2016 Emmys, to the trailing trench coat dress at the 2017 Met Gala that launched a hundred memes, this decade has seen Priyanka Chopra Jonas' style get elevated from "best-dressed" to one that warrants conversation. When it comes to the red carpet, there may be no stage bigger than the Met Gala — and the actress has never been one to disappoint. In 2018, she wore a burgundy Ralph Lauren gown with a long train and a beaded hood. But what’s been her most famous ensemble to date? That probably has to be her first-ever Met Gala appearance the previous year. In 2017, Chopra Jonas was named to a legion of best-dressed lists for her risk-taking trench coat dress and spiked booties, both designed by Ralph Lauren.
The A-lister has also nailed it at the biggest awards show of them all: the Academy Awards, which she attended in 2016 and 2017. For her Oscars appearance in 2017, Chopra Jonas dazzled in a white and silver gown from Ralph & Russo. She made another stunning appearance at the 2017 Golden Globes in a gold ensemble: a low-cut, embellished Ralph Lauren gown. Most recently, at the Cannes Film Festival in May, 2019, Priyanka Chopra Jonas made two glamorous red carpet appearances, including at The Best Years of a Life premiere, where she brought along husband Nick Jonas and the duo twinned in white. Another recent winning look appeared at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. Stepping out in support of Jonas, who was performing that night, Chopra Jonas commanded attention in a thigh-baring Zuhair Murad gown.
Priyanka Chopra stood out from the crowd at one of the most viewed events in history
And while it seemed nearly impossible for Priyanka Chopra Jonas to top her red carpet looks, she pulled out all the stops for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in May, 2018 in the UK. The royal wedding hosted 600 guests, including the Queen and a wide array of celebrities — from the Beckhams to popular US television host Oprah Winfrey — and amongst them was Chopra Jonas. Chopra Jonas arrived to the ceremony at Windsor Castle — which an estimated 1.9 billion people watched on television around the world — in the chicest lilac suit by designer Vivienne Westwood and matching heels and a fascinator. Is there anything she can't pull off? At the royal wedding reception at Frogmore House, she stunned in a sparkling gold Dior gown. She was the actual definition of "radiant" in the ultra-feminine and romantic chiffon-covered gown.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas honoured with first-ever Vogue, Forbes and Time magazine covers
Each time you think Priyanka Chopra Jonas can't possibly top another chart, she surprises the world with a new achievement. In 2016, she graced one of six special covers dedicated to Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People. The other cover-stars included Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, US singer Nicki Minaj, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan (sharing a cover), former managing director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde and US singer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda. She also made it to 2016's list of most Googled people, and found herself on the Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women list 2018.
In 2019, Priyanka Chopra Jonas also became the first Indian woman to cover American Vogue. Two days before her wedding to Nick Jonas, Vogue announced the actress would be the star of its January 2019 cover — the first Indian-born person to do so. In the cover story, "When Priyanka Met Nick: A Love Story," the fashion bible details the couple's journey to the altar, beginning with the first person to text (it was Jonas), and full of fashion-related tidbits.
Most recently, at the 15th Annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York, Diane von Furstenberg presented Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a longtime UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, with the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award. In her glowing introduction, she compared Chopra Jonas’s compassion and elegance to that of the late Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn, a friend of the legendary designer. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, it's also worth noting, is the most-followed Indian celebrity on Instagram, with more than 47 million followers.
