Are legislators vacationing in Haryana?: Kapil Sibal takes a dig at Pilot
Senior Congress leader Sibal’s swipe at the former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister comes at a time when the Congress is showing signals of giving the Pilot-led rebel camp a second chance.
Taking a swipe at Sachin Pilot, the senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal on Thursday asked what happened to his ‘ghar wapsi’ plans and whether Rajasthan's rebel legislators are vacationing in Haryana under the “watchful eye” of the saffron party.
On Wednesday, Pilot had claimed that he is not joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The rebel leader had also alleged that rumours of him joining the BJP were being peddled to malign his image.
Notably, he was sacked by the Congress as the Rajasthan deputy chief minister and state unit president after he openly revolted against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
"False rumours spread to malign. Pilot: 'I am not joining BJP'. I guess then legislators at a hotel in Manesar is merely a vacation in Haryana's comfort zone under BJP's watchful eye," Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sibal said on Twitter.
Taking a dig at Pilot, Sibal further asked, “What about 'ghar wapsi’?”
Sibal's remarks about 'ghar wapsi' come after the Congress once again said the dissident MLAs can still return to the Congress fold.
The grand old party has been signalling that Pilot can be given a second chance if he returns along with the rebel Congress legislators to the party’s fold.
AICC general secretary and Rajasthan in charge Avinash Pande and chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala have urged Pilot and other dissident legislators to return if they are not joining the BJP.
The offer comes at the instance of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who wants to give Pilot another chance, party insiders told news agency PTI.
