Pakistani Actor Ali Zafar Lashes Out At Meesha Shafi, Who Had Accused Him Of Sexual Harassment
Ali Zafar, while addressing the press outside Lahore Sessions court, said that Meesha Shafi’s case against him has been dismissed.
Pakistani actor-singer Ali Zafar interacted with the media on April 28, for the first time after he filed a defamation case against Shafi, who accused him of sexual harassment on social media.
Ali took to his social media account where he shared his statement, and a video of the media talk he had outside the session court in Lahore. The actor's statement read, "Meesha Shafi’s case against me was dismissed alongside the appeal made against the dismissal. The case in the court is my case against her to pay for damages that her false statement has caused me which naturally she’s trying to run from." He further continued, "I have also filed a case against all the fake and other accounts being used to run a campaign against me on social media." Take a look at the entire statement below:
In April 2018, Meesha Shafi said on social media that Pakistani actor-singer Ali Zafar had sexually harassed her on different occasions. Responding to her claim, the actor tweeted that he would take it to the courts, rather than respond on social media.
In his statement to the press, the actor said that, “those who accused me levelled allegations for personal gains and then went to Canada”. He also wondered whether Shafi wanted to become another Malala and gain fame abroad.
However, the actor was criticised on social media for mentioning the Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai.
He later took to Twitter to say that Malala was a true warrior who stood for truth and justice, having made great sacrifices. “Meesha cannot become her by lying and running away from justice, hiding behind fake profiles on social media,” he wrote.
